Nineteen years ago right after I got married,if someone would have asked me if I liked computers I would have said no. If they had asked me if I had any desires to learn how to use one I would have said no. Times have changed!
With my husband being a computer guy himself there was at least one computer in our house. He would be on it a LOT. I would sometimes get curious about what he was doing and watch him. Not long after we got married this thing called e-mail came out. My husband asked me if I would like my own e-mail address. I thought why not it might be fun and I could communicate with him while he was at work and I could communicate with my family and friends and not have to use the phone. I hardly ever received any emails at first so it was a bit boring.
The next thing you know I start using the computer a little bit by myself while my husband is at work. I was nervous about using it, but my husband told me to just have fun with it. So I did. I started to learn how to use the computer more and more on my own and I was having fun.
The next thing you know there is this new thing called Facebook and I wonder if I should get it. My husband tells me “sure why not”. So I get it,then he gets it. Then before you know it I’m keeping in contact with family and friend through that and having a blast.
Then all of a sudden there is another new thing called Twitter and yeah once again my husband suggests I use that, so I did. I am now very active with my FB, Twitter, G+, Linkedin, Pinterest and a bunch of other sites as well.
Now here I am 19 years later and I have become what I consider to be a slight computer geek. I am on my own computer almost every day. I generally have any where from 7-10 windows open on my computer at a time using them all. I have learned how to use social media and I use it quite well. In fact sometimes even my husband will ask me a question about something I know that he doesn’t know lol 🙂 . Yeah that makes me feel pretty good about myself sometimes. I have also made some really nice friends from the UK, Ireland and South Africa thanks to my social media network.
I now actually find myself more interested in being on my computer then watching TV. Never thought that would ever happen!
